Oyo govt denies down-sizing workforce

Ibadan—Against reports that the Oyo State government is planning to retrench workers in its civil service owing to its planned reduction of ministries from 23 to 13, the state government has said the on-going verification exercise among civil and public servants in the state was for the restructuring of public service and not for retrenchment as being speculated.

The state’s Head of Service, Mr. Soji Eniade, stated this while addressing newsmen at his Secretariat Office, Agodi, Ibadan.

Eniade said following the decision of the state government to reduce the state ministries from 23 to 13, there is the need for restructuring of staff.

He said the exercise would give the government opportunity to re-align and re-engage the entire work force and determine the strength and weakness of each ministry, department and agency

The verification form has eleven columns with spaces for names, date of birth, qualification, expected date of retirement, salary grade level and other relevant information about each employee.
