BOTHERED by the curriculum challenges faced by stakeholders in education sector, the Managing Director, Pearson Nigeria Métier Bakare, has reiterated Pearson’s commitment to providing resources adding that Nigerian learners deserve world-class educational resources.

Speaking on the latest curriculum resources from Pearson made available in Nigeria, Bakare said Pearson’s efforts are focused on ensuring that the success of Nigeria’s new curriculum will depend on the quality of learning resources delivered throughout the country.
According to him, “The best results in curriculum reform occur when schools and educators are fully supported. This support can come in a variety of forms. Pearson resources come with a full host of teacher assistance, including new freely available teacher guides that can be downloaded from the Pearson Nigeria website.
“This technology, if used in the right way can also play an important part in helping teachers adapt to new curriculum requirements and in helping learners meet learning outcomes in a stimulating learning environment.”
Bakare who explained that the introduction of a new curriculum in itself in Nigeria will not improve learning outcomes, insisting that rather the superior curriculum resources and teacher support are also fundamental to ensuring students are actually learning in schools and achieving higher rates of literacy and numeracy.
Pearson with its years of expertise points out that the success of Nigeria’s new curriculum will depend on how it is applied by teachers in classrooms across the country.
The global learning company informs that teachers need pedagogically sound materials which motivate and engage students in the learning process. As such, Pearson’s resources bring together international expertise in developing instructional resources to support national curricula in several countries within Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
Pearson resources in Nigeria are created with local understanding ensuring that the resources which are proven to have a measurable impact on improving learning outcomes are accessible to both the educators and their learners.
He pointedout that the successful implementation of the new Nigerian curriculum requires a comprehensive approach that incorporates teacher training, technology and assessment.
Pearson Nigeria continues to offer pioneering and dynamic professional development to teachers ensuring that they can make the most out of curriculum resources for their learners.
