As part of measures to eradicate poverty among residents, and in Nigeria in general, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos State has provided free three month skill acquisition training for 75 unemployed residents including men and women as well as undisclosed amount of financial support for 25 widows in the council area.

Addressing beneficiaries of the free skill acquisition and widows’ cash support programmes at the council secretariat, recently, the Executive Secretary of the council, Mr. Jaiye Alabi (Esq), advised them to regard the good gesture of the council as a golden opportunity to say eradicate poverty and hardship in their lives. The council boss reminded them that, there are thousands of people who are not privileged to get support in any form from government, and as such, they should make the best use of the support offered them by his administration.

Barrister Alabi, also used the occasion to assure other unemployed residents and widows in the council, that his administration will extend the gesture to them as soon as more fund is available to the council. He urged residents to support the council, by paying their rates and levies to the council pause as at when due, in order to enable his administration implement more people oriented programmes for their benefit.

He commended Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his resolve to take governance to the people at the grassroots, adding that the governor’s agenda has set the standard for local governments administrators in the state.
