Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has advised President Muhammad Buhari not to limit his probe of corrupt leaders to regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan alone.
Reacting to the statement of Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina who said Buhari would limit his probe to the immediate past government of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Onuesoke described it as being selective, adding that selective justice can only be deemed as “witch hunting”.
Onuesoke who said he is not against Buhari probing and bringing to justice those who stole Nigeria’s funds however argued, anyone who thinks that a government can only probe the government that it succeeded and living the past ones out of the hook is ignorant of how to fight corruption and lacks every atom of reasoning.”
The former Delta State PDP Governorship aspirant maintained that if Buhari is bent on purging PDP bad deed for the sixteen years as he has been saying since he came into office, he expected him to start from 1999 which include the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
“What I always hear everyday from Buhari and all the APC members and their supporters is that PDP has ruled this country for sixteen years and that all the corruption and all the adverse effect Nigeria is suffering today was caused by PDP’s sixteen years regime. If that be the case, why has Buhari chosen to fight corruption halfway? He kept telling Nigerians to be patient while he keeps wallowing in calamities,” Onuesoke stressed.
Onuesoke who said Buhari has not implemented any tangible projects since he assumed office rather than making promises and begging for time pointed out that limiting the current action to the immediate past is not fair and tantamount to selective witch hunting.
