Governor Akinwunmi Ambode
Lagos—Governor Akinwunmi Ambode Lagos State has issued a seven-day ultimatum to heads of government agencies and parastatals currently occupying rented apartments in the state to vacate and relocate to the main ministries.
The measure it was gathered was part of the ongoing reform of the administration in the public service to reduce cost of governance, ensure efficiency and improved service delivery.
The order to vacate the rented apartments, contained in a circular titled: ‘Re-alignment of office accommodation of ministries, department and agencies’ signed by the Head of Service, Mrs. Folasade Jaji, directed to heads of ministries and agencies.
Vanguard gathered that the rents of the apartments were often inflated at staggering sum, thus leading to allocation of huge funds for rents from government coffers.
