An action at a football league. Chukwu proffers solution for better management as Okpala blasts NPL for laxity
Shooting Stars goalkeeper Abiodun Akande has been ruled out of Nigeria’s second leg CAF U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo.
The goalkeeper just recovered from an ankle injury which saw him miss the first leg which Nigeria won 2-1 in Port Harcourt.
“I won’t play the game against Congo this weekend because I just get back to fitness from the ankle injury which made me miss the first leg,” he said.
“I talked with the coach and I was asked to stay away and get to full fitness for the All Africa Games camping. That since I am just returning to action, it will be better not to go for the second leg.
“It is painful that I will miss both legs against Congo, God knows best. I am solidly behind my team to beat Congo.”
Akande is back training with 3SC and may man the post in the next game away at El Kanemi Warriors on Sunday
