ADO EKITI—Members-elect into the next Ekiti State House of Assembly have rebuffed insinuations of Governor Ayodele Fayose being a violent man even as they have pledged not to be his rubber stamp.
The lawmakers-elect have also promised that next House of Assembly would be devoid of rancour saying “our agenda is peace in Ekiti State.”
The legislators said this during a courtesy visit to Vanguard Corporate office in Lagos.
Leader of the delegation, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, who is being tipped to be the next speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly said even as they would show every form of cooperation to Governor Ayodele Fayose they would not be a rubber stamp house.
Dismissing insinuations that the next House would eventually be crisis prone, he said: “By the grace of God, there will be no more troubles because we are all stakeholders and we have a stake in Ekiti peace.
“Our agenda is peace in Ekiti State because we have had enough storm and it is time for peace. We are looking forward to having peace in Ekiti State for the next four years. There is going to be a kind of mutual understanding and relationship between the executive and the legislature, a synergy that will promote peace, given the hope and aspirations of the masses of the Ekiti masses. We will also ensure that checks and balances are properly done in a way and manner that will promote peace in the state.”
On Governor Ayodele Fayose being a violent man, he said: “I think the larger perspective of people that our Governor is a violent man is wrong. He cannot be a violent man and still have that kind of popularity. He is a man of honour and that is why the people voted for him en-masse.
“You can see that during the governorship election, people voted for him 100 percent. During the state house of assembly election as well, they voted PDP 100 percent. That is a rare privilege you can get in Ekiti State and in our state, he is being regarded as a friend of the poor.”
