Two teenage boys, both aged 10, were weekend confirmed dead after drowning in a river at Madaka village in Gagarawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Dr. Muhammad Gidado, who confirmed the incident, said the boys would have been saved had his agency received reports of the development on time.

He warned parents and guardians to be extra-vigilant on their children and wards and urged members of the public to be security-conscious and be good Samaritans during emergency situations.

In another development, Gidado said his command had arraigned a runaway driver, Lawan Muhammad, 30, of Gawo village, Makoda Local Government Area of Kano State for attempting to run away with a 14-seater commercial bus belonging to his master, Malam Alhaji Buhari Ilu Kanti of Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
