Jalingo—The Taraba State Police Command Sunday confirmed an armed robbery attack on the residence of Alhaji Adamu Sadiq, the State Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
Mr Joseph Kwaji, the Command’s spokesman, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jalingo, said the robbers attacked Sadiq’s residence at about 10 p.m. on Saturday and carted away his Honda car and other valuables.
Kwaji, however, said the car had been recovered, but that the correspondent’s home theatre set, a television set, IPad, cell phones, laptops, desktop computer, among others, were still with the attackers.
He said the police had since commenced investigation into the incident, stressing that the perpetrators would soon be brought to justice.
Narrating his ordeal, Sadiq said he returned home after seeing off a friend who visited him at about 9.30 p.m., and met seven men armed with guns inside his house.
“They requested that I should give them money. They told me that they have come to collect the money I had and that if I refused to give them, they would kill me.
“Unfortunately for them, I had no money on me and that was how they resorted to packing my electronics and other personal belongings.
“They requested that I give them my car key which I did and they packed my electronics in it and drove off,” Sadiq said.
