Wife of the pastor-in-charge of Lagos Province 40, Pastor Olubunmi Odutola counseled the participants especially the married women on how to draw the line between their marital homes and their other responsibilities, maintaining that if women can be totally submissive to their husbands, Nigerian homes and the Church would be heaven on earth.

According to her, married women should not to allow the spirit of pride to destroy their homes but rather keep their heads low, obey their husbands to the letter in the Lord’s way and not forsake the place of prayer, stressing “go to the Lord in prayer, seek His face when you are in any challenge, desist from discussing issues in your marital homes to family members or friends.”

Giving reasons for this year’s theme, “Shepherd of Israel”, wife of pastor-in-charge of Ajuwon Zone, Pastor Adejumoke Aiyedun said it became imperative following series of marital challenges in the society, also stressing the need for wives to be committed to their home, children, source of income and endeavor to support their husbands’ vision.

In her words: “There is need for the women to develop the heart of love for Christ and total commitment for their marital home. Women need to be committed to their husbands, children, to their source of income whether they are in paid employment or self employed. And they need to support their husbands’ vision, by so doing they support their own destinies.

“God has created a woman in such a way that we can address a lot of things at every point in time. They should find time to pray, observe personal vigils, fast, study the scripture and I know God will assist and see them through their marital journey.   It is only a lazy woman that finds it difficult to tap into God’s available grace”.

Also speaking, wife of Assistant Pastor-in-charge of Province on Administration, Mrs. Yemi Aniyeloye urged wives to give all to their husbands; do not resist them when they demand anything and must not allow anything to debar them from fulfilling their marital obligations.

According to her, “if we resist our husbands, we are giving them the opportunity to look elsewhere. We should be ready to offer and pay the sacrifice of whatever our husbands demand. The key point of this programme is to have peaceful homes in our families. If the home is not in order, there will not be peace in the family and our communities.”

Aniyeloye advised the single youths to keenly seek God’s face for guidance and direction before entering marital relationship and not base their choices only on physical appearance which she said can be deceitful.

She also advised the youths, especially the female ones, to desist from indecent dressing which is also manifesting in churches today.

Participants described the programme as a unique one. The conference secretary, Mrs. Abisola Arinola said: “We had wonderful speakers and I believe that by next year there will be mighty testimonies in our lives.”

Mrs. Folashade Akingbesote said: “This year conference is totally different from the previous ones because it took a new dimension; the guest speaker did not only tackle our spiritual life but seriously touched our marital homes. Serious issues affecting our homes were tackled and I bless the name of the Lord”.

Some of the highlight of the conference included drama, free medical checkup, soul lifting praise and worship, couple seminar, vocational training on fashion design, catering, bead making, decoration amongst others.
