BENIN—THE 15 newly elected members of the Edo State House of Assembly are spoiling for war with  the nine re-elected members, following the decision of the re-elected members to occupy the entire principal offices since they are now ranking members of the House.

But the newly elected members, who are 15 in number opposed the move, insisting that they will not contest the position of the Speaker, which it was learnt, Governor Adams Oshiomhole had earlier encouraged the incoming lawmakers to consider the member representing Esan Central, Mr Victor Edoror as Speaker designate.

Out of the 24 member House, the All Progressives Congress, APC has 21 while Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has three

Edoror is Deputy Speaker in the outgoing Assembly following the impeachment of the former Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea during the crisis between the APC lawmakers and their PDP counterpart. It was gathered that the governor gave the advice to ensure that the Speaker goes to the Central, the Majority Leader is expected to come from Edo North while the Deputy Speaker will come from Edo South.
