By Afoke Okporua
In 1966 late Prof. Chinua Achebe wrote his third novel, a political satire. It was a literary piece that extensively and exhaustively chronicled/pictured post-colonial Nigeria in all her rot, rust and ruins.
In that treatise, the semi-immortal Prof was prophetic, he predicted that a coup would occur if those saddled with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of Nigeria do not perform a surgical operation in their political heart and it came to friction.
As a worthy Ambassador of his people, Sen. Ikisikpo constantly and continually promote/uphold their welfare with robust dexterity and unwavering sagacity. Unlike Nanga, Sen. Ikisikpo has had a superlative outing as a lawmaker.
From his embryonic days as a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Ogbia constituency 3, Sen. Ikisikpo demonstrated that service to humanity is the best work of life. Before proceeding to the Senate to represent Bayelsa East, Sen. Ikisikpo’s two term stinct as a member of the Federal House of Representative was awesome.
Sen. Clever Marcus Ikisikop’s role in human capital development is unparalleled in the history of Bayelsa politics. Ikis loves to empower the mind of men so they can be independent and self-reliant, an astute talent hunter and developer. A renowned goal getter and 21st Century Symbol of Hope and Inspiration for youths of Niger-Delta extraction. It is on record that as the Senate Committee chairman on Special Duties, Sen. Clever cleverly coordinated NEMA to respond to the flood crisis that ravaged Nigeria and cater for the internally displaced persons Boko Haram insurgency caused. The state is in dire need of a political afficionado to rescue her from administrative quagmire, political turbulence and socio-economic uncertainty. The present level of insecurity in Bayelsa State is unprecedented in the South-South geo-political zone, infrastructures are crying for greater attention, road networks are dilapidated, Bayelsans are living in chronic poverty and abject penury because of the Zimbabwean nature of the State’s economy.
The health care system in the State is on her knees, rural life that use to be one of the thriving hallmark of the State has gone into extinction, political tension in the State is alarming. To railroad Bayelsa back on track, there is need for Peace and Security, Infrastructural development and human capacity building.
To achieve the afore-mentioned tripod analytical blue-print towards rejuvenating the Mangrove territory of the Niger-Delta, Bayelsans need Sen. Clever Marcus Ikisikpo.
Electing Sen. Clever Marcus Ikisikpo as Governor of Bayelsa State in 2016 will set the State in the mood of Lagos and Bayelsa States simultaneously. With Senator clever Marcus Ikisikpo in the driver’s seat of Bayelsa State as Governor the people can all scream Uhuru.
