A-Ibom raises alarm over security threat

UYO—Akwa Ibom State Government, yesterday, raised alarm over alleged plans by some miscreants to attack key government institutions in the state.

A statement in Uyo, by Mr. Ekerete Udo, Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to Governor Udom Emmanuel, said that the plot had been brought to attention of the state government and enjoined members of the public to be curious of strange and suspicious movements in their environments and promptly draw the attention of security operatives to such developments.

He said: “Accordingly, the general public is hereby alerted to watch out for suspicious movements or activities that may breach the peace and report same to law enforcement agents without delay.”

The state government warned sponsors and those recruited to embark on the sinister plot with a view to creating crisis in the state that the security agencies have been put on red alert and are ready to apprehend and deal decisively with anyone that violates the law.

It urged law abiding citizens to go about their legitimate duties without fear of molestation as the state government was alive to its responsibility of safe- guarding lives and   property of the citizenry.
