The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has said that he was not afraid of probe by the incoming administration, adding that it will take an angel for his successor to attain the feat he recorded in the last four years of his leadership of the Amnesty office.
Speaking, yesterday, at a thank you visit and his investiture as Patron of Yoruba Youths, in his office in Abuja, Kuku boasted about his achievements, pointing out that he has raised the bar for his successor to build upon having empowered about 30,000 youths through the special training scheme of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in the last five years.
He said, though the number might seem insignificant when compared with the population of the country, the programme has, however, succeeded in reducing youth restiveness and unemployment in the country, particularly in the oil rich Niger Delta region.
He added that with the successful implementation of the amnesty programme in the last five years, he said, the nation’s crude oil production now stands at between 2.2 million barrels and 2.4 million barrels per day.
“So far, no fewer than 2,000 of the ex-militants have completed their Bachelors and Masters degrees in various fields while others are still schooling in the best private universities in the country and abroad.
“I am happy that I have raised the bar, the stakes are high for whoever is succeeding me. I pray for the success of that person because the success of my successor is going to be the conclusion of this programme, the way it was planned and I will really want the beneficiaries to finish their various study programmes. I do believe that this is not for the students alone but for the country as a whole,” he added
