We never attacked Ogbe-Ijoh —Aladja community

By Festus Ahon

ASABA—The people of Aladja, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, have denied media reports that they were attacking the people of Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.

President of Aladja Community, Mr Paulson Okobiebi, described the allegation as “unfounded and fabricated with the intention of truncating the peace agreement brokered between the two communities by the Delta State Government.”

Okobiebi, who was reacting to media reports credited to ‘Concerned Citizens of Ogbe-Ijoh,’ said: “The Aladja community has held religiously to the peace brokered by the State Security Council presided over by the state deputy governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN.

“Ogbe-Ijoh has largely observed the agreement in the breach. Contrary to the clearly stated facts in the agreement that owners of matured crops be allowed access to harvest their crops, our people have been consistently denied access to their farm lands.

“Several cases of harassment of our farmers had been reported at the Ogbe-Ijoh Divisional Police headquarters, Ogbe-Ijoh.”

He called on leaders of Ogbe-Ijoh community to call on those behind the said group to order so as to stop “further provocative and offensive peddling of lies in the media for peace to reign between the two communities.”
