Lagos—Students of the Lagos State University, LASU yesterday reacted over allegation made by the state government that they were party to the reason for the continued closure of the institution, saying; “We have never been part of the crisis that led to the continued closure of the school.”

The students’ reaction came barely 24 hours after the Special Adviser to the state governor, Babatunde Fashola, on Education, Otunba Fatai Olukoga said the reason for the continued closure of the institution was the inability of the parties involved in the crisis-staffs, students and the school management, to reach peaceful agreement.

Public Relations Officer of LASU Students’ Union, Mr. Fatai Adebanjo, in a statement , lamented that the sudden inclusion of the students who have being pleading with the parties involved in the crisis to sheath sword.

Adebanjo said that the comment by the state government was erroneous and could further escalate the crisis rocking the institution.

According to him, “We can state authoritatively that, this statement was made obviously to indict the Students’ Union of LASU because, the Students’ Union protested against the continued closure of our school.”
