Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, senatorial candidate for Abia South zone in the just concluded National Assembly election, Dr. Chukwuemeka Okwuonu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Making his declaration for the APC at the residence of the party chairman in Obingwa Local Government Area, Okwuonu said he was joining the party because of its strong tendency to fight corruption.
He promised to mobilize his teeming supporters to ensure that the party grew in the state, saying, “I will mobilize my teeming supporters to the party to make sure that APC provides an alternative in 2019 by wresting power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,” he said.
Receiving the former PPA senatorial candidate into the party, chairman of the APC in the state, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, who was represented by the party’s State Welfare Officer, Chief Emeka Onugha, boasted that the APC had caught a ‘big fish’ with the declaration of Okwuonu for the party.
