A right advocacy organization, Coalition for Right Judiciary and Equal Rights, CRJER, has called on the President-elect, Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to handle with care, any appointment that had expired tenure, noting that, “arbitrary termination of such appointment will not do his administration any good.”
The organization urged the incoming government to ensure that the judiciary adjudicated with fear of God and strict adherence to the rule of law “without minding whose ox is gored in the process.”
In a statement by its President and Secretary, Messrs Taiwo Somoloju Akeja and Hassan Maishanu Dandoma respectively, the coalition stated that, “if all these are on ground, it would not only create stability in the polity, it would give the foreign investors’ confidence to come around for business.”
According to the group, the quest for standard economy and industrialization of the country ccannot come to pass in a country where arbitrariness is the order of the day.
On tenured term, the coalition argued that, “no serious government would want to enter into a long legal battle that could last for two years only because it want to get rid of an individual.”
