Falcons
Nigeria Football Federation is hoping to have the Super Falcons play international friendlies against New Zealand and Canada, hosts of the FIFA 2015 Women World Cup starting in June.
The Falcons will open their World Cup account with Sweden on June 8 in Winnipeg. NFF women committee chairperson, Dilli Onyeadinma disclosed in a phone chat that the Falcons will leave early for Canada after their two-leg Olympic Qualifier against Mali.
“Once we are through with the qualifiers we will proceed to Canada. We have plans for the team to play against New Zealand and Canada before the Falcons play their opening game.”
Speaking on the game against Mali, she stated that the Falcons are not going to underrate their counterparts whom they beat 8-0 in the All Africa Games qualifier.
“ Nigerians saw how we played Mali (AAG qualifiers) and that’s our true strength. Having said this, We don’t have to entertain any fear because we’re going to beat Mali on Saturday.
“ We are not being over confident but even the Malians know they are no match for us, but we know they’ll prepare harder as most teams that find themselves playing against Nigeria.”
