Yenagoa—The Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, in Bayelsa State, has challenged the president-elect, Gen. Muhammad Buhari, to fulfil his election promise on the fight against corrupt practices in every sector of the country.

The group urged the president-elect to immediately commence such campaign with a comprehensive investigation into alleged unexplained wealth of officials of the security agencies.

According to the CLO, though the performance of the military and the police during the security action against insurgency in the North East and the recent general elections have been commendable, there was need to investigate the unexplained wealth of some officials, adding that the stock taking on the utilization of fund allocated by the Federal Government for acquisition of arms and ammunition and the security action against Boko Haram will enhance professionalism and check excesses of the security agencies under a civilian administration.

State Chairman of CLO,  Chief Nengi James, in a statement in Yenagoa, after its extra-ordinary meeting, said that the in-coming administration of Buhari, must, as a matter of urgency, commence the fight against systemic corruption within the existing security agencies of the country.
