Adegun, ex-CMD, EKSUTH, wife kidnapped

THE former Chief Medical Director of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital , Dr Patrick Adegun and his wife were on Thursday’s evening kidnapped by unknown gunmen

This is coming barely a week when a staff nurse , Mrs Margaret Aladenika working with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti was equally abducted.

Consequently, the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria ,Ekiti State chapter has ordered its members to withdraw their services until Adegun is found

Chairman of the association, Dr Olusola Aduloju who lamented the insecurity in the health sector ,said all their members working at EKSUTH would withdraw their services until their security is guaranteed by the government and the police “We are taking this step so that the government can provide security for us. We are tired of this situation and we have ordered our men in EKSUTH to withdraw their services until our member and his wife are found”.

Adegun was reportedly kidnapped at about 8.00pm alongside his wife , Mrs Kikelomo Adegun and taken to an unknown destination.

The duo were kidnapped few metres away from the gate of their house located at Goshen Avenue, Oke Ila within Ado Ekiti capital city.

Hospital source told Saturday Vanguard that none of the family has been contacted by the kidnappers and that their whereabouts is still unknown as at the time of filing this report .

The former CMD was said to have earlier attended a wake keep at Nova Primary School, GRA in Ado Ekiti and left the place in his Toyota Avensis car before calling at his wife’s shop where he took her and drove to their residence .

“Why approaching their house, they saw that the gate had been blocked with another car. And as they were making efforts to call the driver to order, they were rough handled and cramped into the car and drove away speedily.

“Though, they didn’t take the victim’s car away. Immediately we noticed that , we called the police and the SSS and they have started making contacts to ascertain their location”, he said.

When contacted , the Commissioner of Police of the Ekiti State Police Command , Mr Joshua Ibine, promised that his men would soon fish out Adegun’s abductors.

In his reaction to the development, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Information, Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi, said “Weare deeply worried about the security situation”.
