Super Eagles team coordinator, and former Nigeria international, Pascal Patrick has said that despite the team’s recent poor run of form, they will improve and get better.
The Super Eagles suffered a shock and embarrassing 0-1 loss to Uganda in a friendly in Uyo last Wednesday, and could only manage a 1-1 draw with South Africa in another friendly last Sunday.
But the poor form notwithstanding, Pascal says the Eagles will rediscover their form and become a team to reckon with on the continent again.
“I think we are just going through a phase, a bad phase but we will come back to form, it’s just a matter of time,” he said. “These things happen in football and we should be used to them by now.
“But I understand the feelings amongst Nigerians and I feel bad too but we have to be patient with the team”.
“I believe it’s just a matter of time and we shall get back to where we used to be on the continent,” he said.
But with fears growing that the Super Eagles could miss out on yet another Africa Cup of Nations, Pascal insisted that Nigeria will not miss out on two consecutive AFCON competitions.
“I don’t believe we will miss it, that’s going too far I think. We will get back on track and we shall be at the next Africa Cup of Nations,” he concluded.
