Ebola: Police raid unsafe funeral, arrests 13
Police in Ebola-hit Sierre Leone raided a funeral on Tuesday and arrested 13 people suspected of organising an unsafe burial, risking spreading the disease, officers said. Police superintendent Da Samah said “heavily-armed” police arrived just in time to stop a 50-year-old man being interred on the outskirts of Freetown after they were tipped off about the ceremony.
Security men take over routes to Ekiti Secretariat, Assembly
Armed security men on Tuesday barricaded all roads leading to the Ekiti State Secretariat, the building that houses the State House of Assembly. Civil servants could not get to their offices as they were turned back by the security men. The workers returned home as they could not confront the combined force of armed policemen and personnel of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

S.African girl caught trying to join Islamic State
A 15-year-old South African girl was on Sunday pulled from a flight moments before trying to leave the country to join the Islamic State jihadists, state security said. “We can confirm that she was planning to leave the country with the intention of joining IS and had been actively engaged with social media networks,” State Security Minister David Mahlobo told local daily, The Star. The girl was reported missing by her grandparents Sunday morning when she disappeared from her Cape Town home.
