Ondo CP masterminded planting of gun in my house – APC lawmaker

By Caleb Ayansina

ABUJA—A lawmaker, representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Eniolorunda Omosule, yesterday, accused the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mr Isaac Eke, of masterminding the planting of locally-made pistol in his residence at Idasen, Owo, in Ondo State.

Omosule, an All Progressives Congress, APC, member, also accused Governor Olusegun Mimiko of conspiracy, saying the whole episode was to keep him out of reach of his supporters in the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

However, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Isaac Eke, in a swift reaction, said the allegation against him was untrue.

He said the allegation was from Omosule’s imagination, adding that the matter had been transferred to the Zonal Headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Eke said: “That is untrue. There was a case of malicious damage during campaign. When they were looking for the suspect, it turned out to be one of his boys and he shielded him.

“He (Omosule) is speaking out of his own imagination. The matter is still under investigation. Is he an investigator? The matter is under investigation. He is not in the right position to say that.”

Omosule alleged that a team of police officers from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Akure, and some political thugs, invaded his home on Wednesday, March 18, at about 4:25pm, while a political meeting was ongoing in the premises.

Omosule, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja, said the leader of the police team made it known that they were in his house to carry out a search based on Eke’s instruction.

The lawmaker, who described their action as laughable, said the officers neither provided a search warrant nor subjected themselves to a search before intruding on his privacy.

According to Omosule, they later came up with the falsehood that a locally-made pistol was found on his gate man, Friday Ihezulor.

He gave the names of the police officers, who invaded his house, as Inspector Akinyonu Ola, Inspector Suleiman Sumaila, Sergeant Akinkunmi Temitope, Corporal Friday Sophiwee, Aliyu Jubril and Asebiode Ayodele.
