The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan and President-elect, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), for embracing a cooperative and stimulating transition period.
NBA’s statement came as some legal practitioners called on the President-elect to immediately end the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.
In a statement by its President, Augustine Alegeh (SAN), NBA hoped that the maturity that had characterized Jonathan and Buhari’s relationship would continue during the transition period.
He said: “The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, wishes to commend the President and President-elect for a cooperative and stimulating transition period.
“It is hoped that the maturity that has charac-terized their relationship will continue during the transition period.
“We also call on all their supporters to emulate the exemplary behaviour of the two statesmen, who are both inspired by the call to serve the good people of Nigeria in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.”
NBA added that the level of campaigns was unprecedented.
