Guangzhou Automobile Company, GAC, is at the verge of opening an assembly plant on Victoria Island, Lagos. According to a statement made available to the press, a preliminary inspection was carried out on March 19, at the proposed assembly plant.

Leading a high level team from the National Automotive Council for the inspection exercise was the Council’s Director of Policy and Planning, Mr Luqman Mamudu. The team also had Engineer Joke Oniteri of NAC and an official of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.

The GAC team that received the NAC/NCS was led by the Administration Director of CIG (representative of GAC in Nigeria), Mr. Felix Lee.

It would be recalled that CIG recently set up an ultra-modern auto facility on Victoria Island to offer GAC models to its numerous customers as well comprehensive after-sales services and auto assembling.

CIG Motors is the sole authorized distributor of the  GAC  brand of vehicles in Nigeria, which won the Nigeria Transport Award, as the Best New Chinese Auto Brand 2013/2014.

CIG motors, with its headquarters/parent company (Choice International) in Guangzhou city, Choice International has operated in Nigeria for about 17 years marketing the Lontor  brand of products, gaining managerial experience and understanding what the Nigerian market needs.

Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1997, and in 2005 became a holding of  Guangzhou Automobile Industry group,  and a  joint-stock company.
