Standard Liege striker Imoh Ezekiel, who is back at the club after a six month sojourn in Qatar with Al Arabi, says he failed to settle in the oil-rich city despite earning twice his previous salary at the team.

The 21-year-old, while speaking on his fine form since rejoining his former side on loan, said he feels settled at the team and that has played a role in his performances with four goals in six games so far including a brace in the Belgium league title playoffs.

“My life is simple at Standard liege because I know a lot of people. I know the players, but I also know very well the city of Liege! Life here suits me well,” he said

“You can not even imagine! In Qatar, I was alone. It was all about football and I went home. There was no communication. I was not able to adapt to the lifestyle. It was really hard for me. “

He revealed that the lure of working again with his coach at Standard Liege, Jose Riga, made it easy for him to make up his mind about rejoining the team on loan from Qatar.

“The coach, José Riga, is like a father to me.This is a very important person. The person who gave me the chance to play my first match in this club.

“I went to Qatar and when I returned, it was again the same person who gave me the team. What else can I say? He has always been there for me good time.

“I am grateful to him for all he has done for me and I will like to say: Dear José, I want to thank you for everything. Your support, your love. I hope that by working together we will accomplish great things!”
