Diego Simeone singled out Fernando Torres for praise after Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Getafe but admitted “we need more” from the striker.
The 30-year-old scored his first La Liga goal since returning to the Vicente Calderon earlier in the season on Saturday, and the Coach was optimistic it would be the first of many, providing he continued to work hard for the team.
“Torres is getting better and now has a better understanding with his teammates. We need more from him, but he knows what’s asked of him and is accustomed to it.
He lives for goals and needed to score in the League again. He’s great competition for [Mario] Mandzukic, who for us is a decisive player. We need more from Torres than what he’s currently giving us.”
