The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has vowed to correct all the injustices and maladministration perpetuated to Teachers and Civil servants in Ogun State by the All Progressive Congress (APC) government led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

This assurance was given by the party’s candidate in Ogun Central Senatorial District‎, Senator Olugbenga Obadara while responding to a question during an interactive session with newsmen in Abeokuta recently.

Obadara described the role of teachers as fundamental in the development of any society and wondered why any government will be delighted in making life miserable for them. His words, “the role of teachers cannot be over-emphasised.  Education is the bedrock of every development. It is only a draconian government that is not keen about the future of the citizenry  that will handle the issues of education and welfare of teachers with levity”.

” it is inhuman and anti-development for any governor or government to threaten teachers with sack because they  asked for their legitimate entitlements. Why should deductions be made from their meagre salary and such will not be remitted to their account. Our party is made up of true progressives and we believe that the fastest means to liberate the masses is by giving them good and quality education which will be occasioned  by ensuring a conducive environment for learning backed up with the right motivation for teachers”.

The Senatorial Candidate who is seeking a return to the Red Chamber explained that he has “built about ‎forty blocks of Classrooms with furniture and V.I.P toilets across the six local governments in the Senatorial District in the last three and half years just to ensure that we protect the future of our children”.

Speaking on the welfare of the State Civil Servants, the lawmaker described as unfortunate, the deliberate non payment of the salaries of the Civil Servants by the Amosun government. He argued that if truly the Internally Generated Revenue of the State has increased to five billion as claimed by the government, there shouldn’t be any difficulty in paying the less than two billion naira wages of the Civil Servants. “Amosun have reduced Ogun State Civil Servants to workers without reward and that is responsible for the incessant strikes the workers are often compelled to embark on.While he and his relations are living a life of affluence, the workers are subjected to untold hardship”

While urging  the people of Ogun State to vote enmass for Candidates of the Social Democratic Party in the forthcoming election, he vowed that the party when voted into power will ensure that no sector will develop at the detriment of the other.

The Ibikunle Amosun’s government is alleged to have made deductions from the Salaries of teachers in the State, but did not remit such into their accounts, yet he vowed to sack any teacher that dare demand for it even as salaries of public servants are not paid.
