PORT HARCOURT— House of Representatives member and Director, Finance and Administration of General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Dr Sokonte Davies, has decried the killings in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, saying that they were political rather than cult related as being portrayed by the Police in the state.
Davies, who represents Degema/Bonny federal constituency, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, said it was unfortunate that the Police in the state had failed in the discharge of their professional duties, adding that the killings were mainly directed at members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said: “In political times like this, the first casualty is the truth. APC members are being attacked and killed daily. I am a child of God, ordained to preach the word of God. It has pleased some to say that the APC people killed were cult members. The intention of those behind the killings is that elections have come therefore, people must be scared from going to vote.
I sympathise with what the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is doing in the state. When you scare the people from voting, who will come out to vote? This state is overwhelmingly an APC state. PDP’s strength is limited to certain places.”
