BENIN—AHEAD the March 28 presidential elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo South senatorial district of Edo State, yesterday, held a rally tagged “Operation final push,” appealing to the people of the area to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan so as to enjoy the government at the federal level.
The rally was attended by chieftains of the PDP in the area, led by its major financier in the state, Captain Hosa Okunbor, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Senator Rowland Owie, Chief Lucky Imasuen, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Victor Ebomoyi, among others.
Though the state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih and the Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolemenmen, were not from the area, they later joined the rally. The duo declared that they were using the rally to give Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his All Progressives Congress, APC, quit notice in the state, adding that Edo is a PDP state “and must return to PDP from the federal to the state.”
Captain Okunbor, in his address, pointed out that “Apart from the fact that President Jonathan is our son and brother, he has performed more than any president in this country. So, it is in the interest of our people, the Binis, to support his re-election.”
