The traditional ruler of Oworoshoki in Kosofe local government area of Lagos State, Oba Bashir Oloruntoyin Saliu has denied allegations of illegal sale of land in his domain by the Lagos State government, saying the land being sold belongs to his family.
At a press briefing, weekend in his palace, Oba Saliu said: “The traditional institution under my watch is law abiding. We are not illegal land sellers and there is no one involved in the sale of government landed properties in my domain as alleged. The land my family is selling is the 5171 hectares allotted to me on behalf of the Saliu Salami Rufai family covered with C of O issued and signed by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on July 3, 2009.”
Oba Saliu said, “The 5171 hectares of land were allotted to us following an Ikeja High court judgment of October 12, 1994 in suit number ID/390/93, in favor of my family against the State, and as a matter of facts, the family do not sell our land but lease it to people.”
