President Goodluck Jonathan met with a former Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar (rtd.), and a former South African President, Thabo Mbek behind closed-doors.
Though it is not unusual for the president to meet with past Nigerian and other African leaders, reasons for such meetings are sometimes given.
But after Sunday’s meeting with the two former leaders was unusual because both General Abdulsallam and Thambo Mbeki met with president Jonathan at the same time.
The meeting was held in the President’s official residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and both former leaders declined to speak with journalists at the end of the parley.
