A war of attrition and personal victimization is currently tearing apart the heart and soul of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) following the suspension of the immediate past President of the body, Kwesi Sagoe by the incumbent Engr Emeka Onyeama

“So if somebody suspends me for anti-Nigerian activities, that is a serious accusation to make and I am not taking it lightly because my integrity is at stake. I started playing for Nigeria in 1978 and when I joined the board of the NCF in 1998, till now and I am the oldest person on the current board. I was President from 2007 to 2013 and during those years and for the first time, Nigeria qualified for the World Cricket League. With all I have done and for somebody to now suspend me for anti-Nigerian activities is not something that I will allow to go just like that.

“The heart of the matter is that my tenure as the President of the Africa Cricket Association expires this Friday and we will have elections on Saturday and what is happening is not unconnected to the ACA polls, which I am contesting as the President against a Tanzanian, Taher Kitisa, whose nomination was seconded to by Onyeama, the person accusing me of anti-Nigerian activities”, added Sagoe, whose nomination was proposed and seconded by Mozambique and Ghana respectively.
