LAGOS—FORMER Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will win convincingly, the April 11, governorship election in the state.
Daniel who spoke at the fund raising dinner organised by friends and colleagues of the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday said people have seen the difference between the PDP government and that of the incumbent All Progressives Congress, APC, which he said has under performed.
Daniel, who reeled out many achievements of his administration said Ogun State would have turned to Eldorado if the government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun had continued with the sound economic policies and blueprint he bequeathed to the State, but regretted that the government lacks the capacity to pursue developmental projects.
Also speaking at the event, Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ms Jumoke Akinjide said, the time has come for the party to take over the South-west and expressed confidence in Isiaka’s ability to transform the state.
For the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Ogun State will benefit more from the intelligence and experience of Isiaka who he described as a “problem solver”. Obanikoro said he had no doubt that Isiaka will win the election and join hands with
President Goodluck Jonathan to transform the country.
Some of the dignitaries at the event included, former Ogun State Commissioner of finance, Mr Kehinde Sogunle, Mrs Iyabo Apampa and Dr Yomi Majekodunmi.
Others are Chairman, Southwest PDP Mobilisation Committee and Ogun East Senatorial candidate, Prince Kashamu Buruji, Mr Kola Ogunleye and Olotu Dipo Sofowora.
