Jos—NO fewer than nine people were feared dead in a village in Foron district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, yesterday, as suspected cattle rustlers struck.

It was learned that 765 cattle were rustled during the attack.

However, state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abuh Emmanuel, who confirmed the incident, said the number of cattle rustled were 513 and not 765.

He said 84 of the cows had been recovered, while efforts were on to trace and recover others still missing.

Chairman, Plateau State chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria, MACBAN, Alhaji Haruna Hussaini, told journalists that the incident occurred on Sunday night. He said: “The Police have recovered 84 of the cattle and arrested two of the rustlers. The DPO in Barkin Ladi has assured us that they will do their best to recover the remaining cattle.”
