A member of Delta State Think-Tank Committee, Amechi Okobah has described the recent defection of former All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant Chief Fidelis Tilije to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a big boost to the electoral fortunes of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
Okobah spoke when he led members of Equity and Justice Group on a courtesy visit to Tijile at his Obiaruku residence.
Okobah, national leader of the group, commended Chief Tilije for the courage to dump APC, saying campaign strategy aimed at drumming support for the candidature of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and other PDP candidates in the general elections was in place.
He urged Tilije to mobilize his supporters across the state to vote massively for PDP, saying his defection was a sign that victory was assured for PDP
In his remarks, Chief Tilije said his decision to dump APC was informed by his personal conviction that PDP remained the only party on ground, saying the rising profile of the candidate of PDP was a clear indication that majority of Deltans were in support of his candidature.
Earlier on arrival at Obiaruku, members of Equity and Justice carried out door-to-door campaign along major streets and motor parks in the area, where they called on eligible voters to obtain their permanent voter’s cards, PVCs, to enable them exercise their franchise.
