File: Voter casting her vote
By Emmanuel Aziken
The Presidential and National Assembly Elections have now been rescheduled to hold on March 28, 2015, while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are rescheduled to hold on 11th April, 2015.
The whole country serves as a constituency for the presidential election and the major candidates are expected to garner votes from across the country.
The country is however, broken into 109 Senatorial constituencies divided at the rate of three per state and one for the Federal Capital Territory. This is because the Senate is divided based on the equality of states.
The 360 federal constituencies are divided based on the population proportion, land mass and other variables.
The governorship election would be held in 29 states with the exclusion of Edo, Kogi, Bayelsa, Ondo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States.
However, election would be held to fill vacancies that would be due in May into all 36 state Houses of Assembly.
All the elections will be held in 119, 973 polling units across the country and at the same time.
INEC sources say that the ballot papers have been specifically designed for polling stations making it a useless effort to stuff ballot boxes with ballots from other sources.
Tomorrow: Protocol at the Polling Station.
