Road crash claims Federal Director, two others in Delta

WARRI—The Director of Works in Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Engr. Nelson Ophori and two others, were weekend killed in a fatal auto crash at Samagidi in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Vanguard gathered that the accident which claimed Ophori, driver of the car coming from the opposite direction and a passenger, occurred when the other car rammed into deceased’s director’s car on Saturday.

It was revealed that late Ophori was on his way to attend the matriculation ceremony of Delta State University, Abraka, when the accident occurred.

Vanguard sources said Ophori died instantly from shattered skull but his driver survived with minimal bruises.

When  Vanguard visited Ufor hospital in Ughelli, the remains of Opho ri were lying lifeless, with family members in disarray.
Israel Ophori, a relative and an international photojournalist who refused to be consoled, said it was a terrible and irreplaceable loss.

“I am at a lost and I don’t know. How can my uncle die like that? I guess he will wake up,” Israel stated.
Ophori’s remains had been deposited at Ufor Hospital morgue at the time of this report.
