ASABA—A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, has dismissed an application for stay of execution by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, against the judgment of the court which ordered the restoration of Ughelli South 1 and Isoko North 1 constituencies.
The court, in its judgment on October 31, 2014, ordered INEC to restore forthwith, the two state constituencies which were suppressed by the commission in 1998.
Dismissing the application without cost, trial judge, Justice Shitu Abubakar, said that the commission had no reason to delay the implementation of the court’s judgment.
The matter was adjoined till February 10, for hearing in the contempt proceedings initiated against the commission’s chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega.
