ONITSHA — Anambra State chapter of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, yesterday, demanded an immediate implementation of the state law on workers’ contributory pensions scheme.

President of the union, Mr. Jerry Nnubia, made the call while addressing reporters at the union secretariat in Awka.

He said the workers’ contributory pensions’ deductions started in July last year, while the state government’s contribution had not been paid into the scheme.

Nnubia said: “Both the contributions of workers and that of government have not been remitted into individual bank accounts of workers, which means that the scheme, even though the workers have started contributing and those contributions have not been paid into their accounts which is why they have not received bank alerts.”
