Abuja—Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the Minister of Education, has pledged to assist the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, to secure a waiver from the FCT administration regarding a N23 million fine slammed on the association over its secretariat under construction.
Shekarau made the pledge when the National Standing Committee of ANCOPSS paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Abuja.
The FCT Department of Development Control imposed the fine on ANCOPSS due to its failure to pay the required fees before embarking on the construction of the secretariat.
The minister said the issue of having a befitting secretariat for ANCOPSS had been with the national leadership of the association over the years.
He said: “We will reach out to the Minister of FCT and even ask him to contribute to the project.”
He also promised to ensure that ANCOPSS was represented in the Universal Basic Education Board and school sports, and also to ensure that unity school principals become members of ANCOPSS.
