ICT growth dependent on innovative technologies – Eaton

Sustainable growth of the Information and Communications Technology sector in Nigeria and West Africa is dependent on developing innovative technologies to solve the sector’s toughest power management challenges, Charles Iyo, West Africa Sales Manager, Electrical Sector. Eaton has said.

Eaton is a power management company providing energy-efficient solutions that help customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficiently.

Iyo who stated this during his opening remarks last week in Lagos the Eaton organized first Technology Day to Drive Sustainable Growth in the ICT sector in West Africa said that their vision is to establish Eaton as one of the premier power management companies in the region providing customized, innovative solutions that enable their customers in Nigeria and West Africa’s burgeoning telecommunications sector to use power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably.

“The West Africa Technology Day represents another key milestone in Eaton’s 78 year history in Africa. Technology Days are one of the most important platforms Eaton uses to raise market awareness of the company’s extensive power management capabilities and we are delighted to host it here in Lagos where we can showcase our innovative solutions to our customers from Nigeria and Western Africa,” Shane Kilfoil Eaton’s Managing Director Africa, Electrical Sector, said, adding that , “We are tremendously excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this dynamic and fast growing market.”

He also announced that Eaton would also leverage its expertise and capabilities in Africa through its manufacturing facilities in South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia, its extensive distributor network and a dedicated team of 900 employees across the region to support the US Government’s Power Africa initiative in Nigeria as well as in Ghana, Liberia, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

For Mrs. Olusola Senapon Oworu, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce & Industry, Lagos state, “Sustainability and energy-efficiency are vital requirements for the economic viability of businesses around the world.

The Tech day enabled Eaton to showcase the company’s solutions spanning five industry segments: Data Centre and IT, Oil and Gas, Electrical Utilities, Mining, Solar and Wind.

The Technology Day was officially opened by Eaton’s Guest of Honor, Mrs. Olusola Senapon Oworu, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce & Industry, Lagos state. Mrs. Olusola Senapon Oworu also delivered the opening keynote speech.

The one day event combined an exhibition floor showcasing Eaton’s power management solutions and products, alongside eight technical seminars run by Eaton’s leading experts from Africa and around the globe. Over 100 customers and partners from the region attended.
