OWERRI—The Federal Government has reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ensure food security, quality education and steady power supply in the country.
The Minister of State for Education, Professor Viola Onwuliri, made this known yesterday, during a prayer session at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Ahiara Centre, Mbaise, for a free, fair and credible general election.
The Catholic faithful also prayed for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Professor Onwuliri told the congregation: “President Jonathan’s re-election would ensure equitable distribution of democracy dividends.”
She appealed to youths to remain focused, shun examination malpractices, thuggery, pre-marital sex and all anti-social acts that would attract shame to their families and society.
Also speaking, Rector of St. Brigid’s, Rev. Fr. Anthony Anyanwu, in his homily, charged Christians to embrace God, especially at this election period.
He urged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against desperate politicians.
