BENIN—EDO State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned those responsible for the defacing and removal of its presidential candidate’s posters, President Goodluck Jonathan from the streets of Benin to desist forthwith, describing their action as undemocratic and unnecessary.

“You can see that as a responsible and democratic party, we placed our posters along with those of the presidential candidates of other parties and that shows how liberal we are,” said state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, while addressing journalists in Benin, yesterday.
The party also denied a statement allegedly credited to Governor Adams Oshiomhole that it hired crowds from the neigbouring states of Anambra, Ondo and Kogi to its presidential rally in the state.
