Court compels bank to pay lawyer over PDP judgment debt

LAGOS—An Ikeja High Court yesterday ordered the Zenith bank to pay a sum of N10.5 million as a judgment debt from the account of the   Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to   lawyer, Mr Debo Adeleke.

Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye who issued a garnishee order, compelling Zenith Bank plc to pay the judgment sum of N10.5 directed the bank to immediately credit the account of Adeleke who rendered a legal service to the party.

The court’s  order was sequel to the failure of PDP to pay Mr Adeleke the sum after the court had initially delivered a judgment against the party.

Ruling on the garnishee proceeding filed by Adeleke, Justice Ipaye upheld the argument of the claimant, while ordering the bank to pay the judgment creditor within three days of the judgment.
