A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a mosque in the north-eastern city of Gombe, Gombe State, yesterday, killing about two other people and wounding 14 others during prayers, a Red Cross official and witnesses said.
An eyewitness, Musa Usman said: “We were holding prayers when we heard a loud explosion. We rushed out of the mosque. There were so many injured people on the ground.”
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
An official at the hospital where the casualties were brought, Ibrahim Garba, said the emergency ward was treating 14 people for blast injuries, adding that some were in critical condition.
