Ahead of this year’s AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Award,AMVCA, the Regional Director(West Africa), M-net, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, has said the organisers are working round the clock to deliver another spectacular awards night.
Giving update regarding build-up to this year’s awards ceremony, Mba-Uzoukwu disclosed that the votes have been very high, adding that “some of the films nominated in different categories of the award are currently doing very well at the box office.”
While declining to reveal what to expect at this year’s awards night, M-net boss hinted that “We are very excited about the nominations this year. It is clearly an indication that the award ceremony remains the most wanted thing in the industry. We have organized the award for the third year runnning. It’s getting better and bigger. It has been rewarding talents as we wanted and it has been getting engagement initiatives as we wanted it. We do not want to reveal what to expect at this year’s award. That’s why we want to attend the event. “
Since the maiden edition in 2013, the AMVCAs has celebrated the contributions of African filmmakers, actors and technicians to the success of the television industry. This year’s awards ceremony is billed to hold on the 7th of Mrach.
Recall that at the unveiling of nominees for this year’s edition, last December, Kunle Afolayan’s film, “October 1” led the way with 13 nominations. Other movies that also earned multiple nominations include Rita Dominic’s “The Meeting”, Lancelot Imasuen-Oduwa’s “Invasion 1897” and AY Makun’s 30 Days in Atlanta amongst others.
