The Police in Lagos State have arrested four suspected hired assassins, who were allegedly contracted to kill a Nigerian returning home from London.

Vanguard gathered that the suspects, identified as Salami, 23; Dare, 31; Fatai, 43; and Taiwo, 37, had perfected plans to assassinate a man (names withheld) before they were arrested through a ‘sting operation’ of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

According to reports, the suspected assassins, along with their client, went online and printed the victim’s picture, which would be used to identify him on arrival.

It was gathered that to prove that they were capable of handling the job efficiently, the suspects showed the client their arms and ammunition.

However, the suspects met their Waterloo as they were nabbed while attempting to collect part payment for the operation.

“Three guns were recovered, while one of the suspects, identified as Sky, is currently at large with a sub-machine gun.

Speaking to Vanguard, the brain behind the operation, Dare, said: “I was born and brought up in Mushin but I live in Ota. I am from Osun State.

“Apart from Kamuri, Fatai and Afeez did not know the job was to assassinate somebody. They thought it was an electioneering job, because I did not tell them everything.

“I was arrested when I went to collect the advance payment of N300,000 for the job.

“We wanted to use the money from the job for Christmas celebration. I promised to pay Fatai N10,000 for showing his gun to the Chairman (the client). We wanted to dupe the Chairman; we did not intend to kill anyone.”
