OSOGBO—The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that it has uncovered the attempt by the Osun State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola to hide under the strike embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria , JUSUN , to truncate the adoption of written address by Osun state governorship election petition tribunal slated for tomorrow.
But the state government in a swift reaction described the allegation as a blatant lie and directed the security agencies to beam their searchlights on the activities of the opposition in the state.
According to a statement by the media aid to the PDP governorship candidate in the last August governorship election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Mr Victor Toriola said; “Series of meetings have been held in Osogbo by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with the state standing army codenamed “state boys” to scuttle the process”.
But the government in its reaction through Mr Semiu Okanlawon, Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Governor’s Office, Osogbo, said: “our attention has been called to a statement allegedly issued by the Peoples Democratic Party alleging a plot to disrupt proceedings of the tribunal by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
“By the PDP’s allegation, we must view this as an alert to all security agencies to watch out for the party and its army of thugs who obviously must have concluded their plans to cause mayhem in the state.”
